when it rains…
…I’m happy. For as long as it rains.
It’s been quite boring, this weekend. I been surviving on junk food, instant noodles and everything unhealthy. And unhealthy tinge of yellow I now look, though my race has been labelled as yellow-skinned anyway. (Ah, and when I was little, it was impossible for me to get the right skin color for the people I drew, so I colored them yellow and they looked radioactive. Nobody told me it was the wrong color, I guess they agree too.)
It’s been long since I ‘ve gone back to this site, but it’s a very good read. Though it only concern things in the US.
I wish I had more time to go through the CR text book.
Coffee is indispensable, times like these. And instant nescafe+cadbury hot chocolate is Da Bombbb!!
And in the previous post, when I say our generation is in decline, it’s nothing I guess, just a lament that we don’t pursue things like arts and humanity stuff, stuff other than what’s in our text books. General knowledge level, I observed, is like 20% when it should at least be 60% to life a meaningful life. And by the way, I admit that I’m not that high up there too in these intellectual artsy-fartsy mumbo-jumbo. But I really would like to learn more.
And that, my friend, is my pathetic attempt in humility.
Oh, don’t mind me…. it’s just that when I crap about things like these, nobody gives shit about it. Don’t people my age ever think about things like these? Or maybe it’s just me thinking too much, about an unreachable subject? An intellectual Utopia that’s never going to come, therefore pointless to ponder on?
For as long as the price of books equal 11 meals in my campus, I think I wouldn’t be inspired anymore than what’s offered by the cyber-realm.
Ahh…wishful thinking won’t get me anywhere. Who am I kidding?
Oh, by the way, I saw on some LowYatNet forummer’s siggie that says “If you don’t read the news, you are uninformed. And if you do, you are misinformed.—-Mark twain”
Or something along that line.
I do ponder about it. But the thing is, the education system in our country doesn’t expose the students to stuff other than the textbooks. Here it’s exam oriented. U see we had music till standard 6, arts until form 3 and tats it. Stuff like pottery, designing stuff or anything to do with u using ur hands to make something creative and expressive is not encouraged here. Samo we have limited resources. Then bout the general knowledge thingy, most students are just not interested cause it’s not going to come out in exams and it won’t help u to get a job either. They just don’t feel curious about things that are happening around them. Tat’s because ppl around them don’t encourage them to think out of the box. So…. aih, our country needs a major revamp.

lYdIa: Yeah…like my P.E class got substituted for add-maths and stuff. That’s sad.
But the sadder thing is when you ask, “hey have you read the news lately? There’s this plague going on and shitload of ppl died….”
and all you get is a “Oh, I don’t read newspaper. Too tedious la…”
Then there’s the awkward silence. *sigh*
I just wish somebody could continue the conversation. Not many kakis to talk cock with nowadays. *sigh*
Major revamp is not gonna happen until the day the whole nation realize that we’re just zombies…just existing. But then again, there’ll be the debates about should we change or should we not for, all the stupidest reasons. And not forgetting the government red tapes, the obligatory dumbass comments from some obscure minister that you didn’t know existed until he commented and all the political mud fight . Abit sien lo…..change something also will take at least 3 years.
But I do hope for the best. At least bring the price of books down.
Bbbb: you ah…you’re considered cultured(*bwahahaha*) already. As in not clueless… you know what I mean. Oh well, you have also experienced the frustration that when you say something you thought was so commonly known and the fella will stares back at you blankly….and you go ‘wtf? weih’ (ok maybe you have some phrases other than wtf…)
sad case weih…
I think we will move on….it’s just the pace that’s worrying. Whether we will be able to compete with other emerging countries is one big question mark.
But I guess we were never really competetive in the first place. Singapore grew so much since their(or our) independence and we’re still in the backwaters compared to them. Oft given reason is that they’re small and therefore easier to govern. Well, we are not that big a land either, are we?
that said, I don’t know why am I getting political now. Sheesshh….
yeah, and the consequence of all these sad cases are the imbeciles that run everything. From tmnet to the post office and bank clerk to the admin staff in the Uni…..incompetency maximus weih…

Relek relek weih…
The funny thing is, you will be considered ‘the weird one’ and become an outcast just because u read the newspaper. The blank stare that ppl give u says it all. They will be imagining hair curlers or hair iron, nail polish, lipsticks etc. Kekekeke…
About the Singapore is small and we are big is utter bullshit. It’s just a reason to give to cover the actual truth. Since when size matter ? It’s the PPL that change the country, not the SIZE of the country itself. And if really size does matter, then our country should be more advance than Singapore since we have more resources than them.
Ur getting political cause the political ‘drama’ which has been happening is just so sad. The thing which happened between the ex-PM and the current PM is the biggest shame la. They are the no.1 of the country and what they did reflects on the state of the country. I respect them but the ’spat’ between them was a disaster. There were so many other options which they could have taken to solve the issue. Got so many other ‘drama’ but I think got not enough space here.
Aih, till the mentality of the ppl change, the country will never keep up with the world.

yeah… i don’t think we’ll change anytime soon, too. Read the paper today? they’re building a 60 mil RM junior science college of sorts for felda kids. I dunno to laugh or cry…. our lil convent is probably worth a lil more than 1 mil only. Don’t tell me they got so many felda kids weih… I can’t work out the maths, isn’t 60 mil abit excessive? Why so canggih-manggih? I think the kids should mix with other non-felda ppl. There must be other schools around. Think about it, when they grow up, their life history will be:
“I was born in Felda, grew up in Felda, father and mother worked in Felda, my school friends are also from Felda, I am also now in Felda, my kids will obviously be in Felda too. You know Felda? Don’t know? You not human.”
*wahahaah*
too dependent I say.

toastem : That 60 mil RM still can say its acceptable cause its for education purposes. But the amount is staggering la. Maybe they using gold for the building. Mangkuk la u create tat life story. Maybe tat will be the case in the future but at least they are receiving some education and its for their future. But donno how tat will turn out. We shall wait and see.
Bbbbbb : Yes u get depressed but then at least you know wats happening in the world and when u can help u try to help. But like our current situation we can only help by being depressed. Hehehehe. Local news memang crap. Aiyo normally i straight go to world news and sports.
It seems like our country memang sometimes just donno where to spend the money. Aih. Heard bout the revolving tower project in Malacca ? They are going to spend 21 mil RM on tat. And for what ? For ppl to see something tall turning. Just great. I don see the purpose of it in the first place. Then u know there’s a waterfall they built a few years ago. It was rumored it cost 1 mil RM. But the end product doesn’t look like it cost tat much. Then there’s an arch which they built that cost a few million. Actually it has been there for quite long but I didn’t notice. It’s after u come out of Ayer Keroh toll. I tot it was going to be an architectural beauty. Mana tau its some pinkish thingy which looks gory. No wonder I didn’t notice it.
*sweat man*

yeah… that’s y…. they got money but dunno how to spend. Wanna be artsy-fartsy but can only come up with crap-like monuments. Sien…
It’s a circle I tell you. They didn’t get good education (especially arts) and grow up to govern and create another round of dumbness. Very vicious cycle indeed. -_-”
