Of Orang Asli(s)
The weekend was spent doing a Moral Project in Pahang, in kampung Bukit Serok.
The aborigines were not any different. The kids have access to junk food, watch tv and have plenty of space to run around.
I have no idea why we were there. Our intention was to help them, to educate them and spend time with them. But in the end, I didn’t feel like we made any difference in their lives. Really, it was pointless. Nothing more than a show, to get our marks for our class.
Given the choice, I would rather paint a fence or two. At least I can see that it is newly painted.
The kids wouldn’t even remember what I taught them. I wouldn’t remember their names and frankly, I don’t give a shit if they remembered mine. It was just a chanced encounter, nothing more. Heartless as it sounded, it is inevitably true. And to travel across the Peninsular for this, is absurd. I think there are some aborigines over here on the west side, too.
I hate this habit of coming up with silly programs like these just to proof that something ‘good’ is being done. What kind of shit of an idea is this?
I think they would prefer to be left alone. Thankyouverymuch. Just don’t destroy their natural habitat(home la….home).
