… get good grades, get a good job, be in the upper rung of the society and fucking vote wisely. Or emigrate–damn, I hope I don’t have to resort to this, there’s no Nasi Lemak elsewhere in the world.

Okay, “fucking vote wisely” means doing a research on your choice of representatives, talk to ppl at mamak stalls and educate others if not too lazy.

Because from what I see now, it is going nowhere. Maybe it is better to have an autocratic-democratic rule with a dash of communism. Only, if only, it is led by sort of an evil genius hippie, without the weed-smoking.

Oh, but why the sudden cynicism?

Because, there are people saying shitload of things about freedom of speech being restricted, here. Read the comments written if you’re not too busy. The arguments are pretty good, about why there should be protests and other stuff.

But I still don’t think protests are not good for the country, temporary disturbance for a better future or not. Other than that, freedom of speech, I agree, kinda sucks over here. But everybody knows the dailies are suxors and that about the only reliable thing is The Sun and the internet(*gasp!*). But too much freedom isn’t a good thing either right? And I don’t think the rein here is held THAT tightly. Much more importantly, if we really get down and dirty to “overthrow” this government, who is gonna lead?

DAP?

Too lame. They only know how to create trouble, oppose, oppose and oppose more.

PAS?

OMG, I cannot imagine myself in a burqa.

Keadilan?

I’ll tell you this. Anwar Ibrahim is a hypocrite. He was the one championing against the ISA during his student days. And when he became a minister, not a beep was said against it. And then you would argue that if Mahathir fucked him over, he must have some sort of good thing going on right? But the truth is, if he’s THAT powerful, he couldn’t be brought down so easily, by a sodomy charge some more (shame, shame–A political figure can’t be as kinky as to forget the golden rule to NEVER do something that might be used against, right? So this charge was never true, I guess. But still, THE Karpal Singh could not win). And now, he’s stirring more shit for the country by handing in some video about some judicial shit. Wan Azizah ah? Sien… like she can lead la.

Can I have better choices?

Maybe urmm… somebody like this guy. Read until the the end, because you have to judge whether the guy is very patriotic or downright crazy.

The news Today.

without comments

Among other things, this one really caught my attention.

It is reported that HINDRAF, a coalition of 30 NGOs fighting for the rights of the Indian community in Malaysia are gearing for a protest this weekend. Their request to hold assembly every weekend was declined by the police and other than that, this 25th November’s gathering is particularly important because, I quote –”TO PRESENT 100,000 SIGNATURES TO QUEEN ELIZABETH II AT THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION, JALAN AMPANG, KUALA LUMPUR “.

Oh, what petition?

This I found in Wiki(not a really reliable source, mind you. The article is a turn-off btw. Had a hard time trying not to break out in curses.)

On 30th August 2007 a class action on behalf of Malaysian Indians was filed at The Royal Courts of Justice in London to sue the UK Government 48 trillion pound for bringing in Indians as indentured laborers into Malaya & exploiting them for 150 years & thereafter failing to protect the minority Indians rights in The Federal constitution when independence was granted, Hence making Malaysian Indians a permanently colonialized society until today. A petition with 100,000 signatures are targeted to be collected and be presented to her Royal Highness the Queen of England appoint her Majesty’s Queen Counsels to represent the poor, underclass, oppressed and suppressed Malaysian Indians would be presented at the British High Commission.

That is the petition.

48 trillion pounds, for 1.8 million Indians in Malaysia, for the crime of bringing them away from India.  Whereas in India, the per capita GDP is 820 USD. That’s a monthly RM 230 compared to the purported lowest income of RM 430 (not the average though–the average would be like every other Malaysians, that’s about 20,000 per year) for an Indian here. What are they making noise about again?

Oh, the marginalization and the oppression.

I’m marginalized and oppressed but you don’t see me storming down the streets. And you never will. You might be screaming that I’m not Indian and that whatever I say here is unfounded but…

48 trillions, that’s laughable. If you see that UK’s GDP is a 2.375 trillion USD per year, would you consider this a valid case? The queen would be laughing so uncontrollably, sending her dentures into a short-lived projectile, and laughing again while groping around for her said dentures.

And other than bringing a thing of the past into the present, this is also a considerably enormous sum (astronomical, actually) they’re asking for. The sex slaves for the Japanese soldiers during WWII only demanded for 4.3 million (and received only 2280 USD in the end btw). Now, that is a far worse violation of human rights compared to being forced to do labor in rubber-estates, and don’t even let me start comparing them to the blacks when they were slaves in cotton fields ala Huckleberry Finn. I think these particular bunch of labor immigrants had it better. Furthermore we are not under the British rule anymore, what’s the point of running to  them? What’s with this pattern of running to some assumed authority when the shit hits the fan anyway?

Please la… if you need to do a petition, ask for the removal of Samy Vellu la… from what I see, no Indian likes him and he didn’t do much except for building craphouses, crapcomplexes and craphighways. Protecting the welfare of the Indians? I don’t see much of that from him, just enough  to maintain his seat during election la.

And please, don’t taint our country’s image further from the sad state that it currently is in.  This is not how things are done.

I seriously have enough of this “protesting” thing already. But this time, the numbers are small though. I think they could be easily dispersed with just one tear gas cannister. You see, I also understand that not every Indian feel that they deserve the 48 trillion pounds and thus think that participating in the protest is nonsense.
I might not be the hardcore-poor housewife with 6 mouths to feed and a drunk husband punching her senseless every night.

This might not be something I can understand at all but I don’t think think that housewife need people to promise her castles in the air by signing the petition.

I think better things can be achieved if these people actually helped out a little here and there. And the government do have subsidies for the poor, no?

Like how my dad always say:

“zhou yan yew kiok thap sat thei–做人要脚踏实地”

meaning, we must have our feet firmly on the ground in whatever that we do.

means don’t be too ambitious la… because in the end you’ll end up with nothing.

Which part of it was FUCKING “BERSIH”?!!

without comments

The Malaysian political scene is pathetic. On one side you have the UMNO old balding dudes sitting high in their chair, scheming and protecting each others’ dirty business, and on another, you have the oppositions who just fight for the sake of fighting while wreaking havoc in the mean time. Yes, yes, they claim that they are fighting for the right cause, fighting against the injustice that is our current government, but tell me, if they have won and became THE government instead (which is highly unlikely), would they have a plan on how they would steer this country toward greater heights?

I doubt that. I doubt they even have the plan of what to do for the week after their “landslide victory” other than jeer at their fallen opponents. Besides, that’s what started the May 13 incident and people don’t really learn from the past, do they?

I might not know much about the players in the scene or their agenda, but I’m positive that most politicians are 99.9% made of bullcrap, live in stinking bullcrap and spew bullcrap everytime they open their mouth.

And now they’re using the everyday people to level the playing field by having a march to Istana Negara to hand over a memorandum calling for a “cleaner” electoral system.

Oh yes, the thousands of them who actually took to the streets are not some crazed revolutionist marching to show their hatred toward the government, but merely concerned citizens who actually want to see some changes in our country. Furthermore, any one of them is better than this cowardly blogger who just sits typing and dissing to whoever is free enough to pop by her page.

Oh, yeah?

Did they realize:

1. The freaking traffic jam they caused in the whole klang valley

2. That there’s such a thing called E-mail and that the King would be happier receiving the memorandum in a less dramatic way. At least he didn’t need to react to a televised broadcast or something.

3. That the fucking gathering wasn’t legal and that’s why there were policemen and tear gas and water cannons to fucking make sure they’d go away.

4. That they’re lucky AK-47s weren’t used against them for freaking disrupting peace and that this shows clearly that our government is not that totalitarian after all. Well, 20 WERE detained, but seriously, they needed to put fear into these NBTD-ers, right?
5. That for 50 years of Merdeka (okay, 44 if you have to be exact. I don’t really care.), nobody had whined to the King about the government and neither is he of use anyway after Mahathir napalmed the royals when he just took control. And all of a sudden, we are like…Thailand???!!! Hello, people loved their King long time ok? I betcha half of the protester can’t even remember the King’s name (it’s freaking long eh).

6. That these kind of things would really freak out foreign investors and our country’s income greatly depend on them?

7. That a show of “people power” isn’t really the right thing to do sometimes. Have they food in their belly? A roof over their head? A stable source of income? The sense of security knowing that a bomb wouldn’t just blow up their porch for no reason? That the government, dirty as they are, still provide us with one of the lowest petrol prices in the region so that the rest of our amenities’ prices won’t jack up in one night, leaving the people high and dry? So, why cause so much trouble and fear to this peace loving nation?

Freaking ridiculous. Nothing better to do ah?

From bbc.co.uk, although not as detailed, is more reliable than TheStar or Malaysiakini anyway.

Malaysia police break up protest

By Robin Brant
BBC News, Kuala Lumpur

Protesters face police cordon Kuala Lumpur - 10/11/2007

There was a heavy police presence in central Kuala Lumpur

Malaysian police have used tear gas and water cannon to disperse thousands of protesters who were marching in Kuala Lumpur to demand electoral reform.

The event was organised by a group called Bersih which is made up of opposition parties and dozens of non-governmental organisations.

The marchers were prevented from entering central Merdeka Square because police said they did not have a permit.

Police estimated the crowd at between 10-30,000 people.

Rising tension

Heavy rains could not stop the marchers as they made their way along the roads on the side of Merdeka Square.

Many of them were in the yellow shirts which organisers had asked them to wear.

Water cannon spray protesters in Kuala Lumpur - 10/11/2007

Tension has been high in Malaysia ahead of the march

They were calling for changes to the electoral process in Malaysia to prevent fraud.

One demand is to use indelible ink to show who has voted.

Tension had been rising over the past few days with the prospect of violent confrontation at the march.

Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi said on Friday that he expected trouble, despite the police ban.

But participants told the BBC they had the democratic right to express their demands.

“We don’t have to wait until election day, that’s five years or more,” one demonstrator told the BBC.

There was a heavy police presence and rally organisers said 20 people were arrested.

Although no one made it into the central square, a small group did march to the national palace, home of Malaysia’s king, to present a memorandum detailing their concerns.

So you want me to vote? You want me to have a hand in the downfall of my own country? You want things to be worse?

I’ll tell you what, you can go vote. Vote for the opposition, however useless they are, because Barisan Nasional is gonna win anyway. But by seeing how marginally close they’ve won by, maybe they won’t slack further and hopefully buck up and do whatever they were supposed to do in the first place.

However, don’t ask me to waste my time, standing in the line enduring the bitchy stares most postal workers have on them 24/7 and filling in a fucking ridiculous form asking me of what race I am (like my voting slip is gonna be colored yellow la) and joining in the hype of the election day. Because I’d rather be doing whatever it is that I do on normal days, election or not.

… go Nigella!!

Nicked from bbc.co.uk,

Curvy women may be a clever bet

Nigella Lawson

Nigella Lawson: Curvy figure and an Oxford degree

Women with curvy figures are likely to be brighter than waif-like counterparts and may well produce more intelligent offspring, a US study suggests. Researchers studied 16,000 women and girls and found the more voluptuous performed better on cognitive tests – as did their children.

The bigger the difference between a woman’s waist and hips the better.

Researchers writing in Evolution and Human Behaviour speculated this was to do with fatty acids found on the hips.

In this area, the fat is likely to be the much touted Omega-3, which could improve the woman’s own mental abilities as well as those of her child during pregnancy.

Men respond to the double enticement of both an intelligent partner and an intelligent child, the researchers at the Universities of Pittsburgh and California said.

The findings appear to be borne out in the educational attainments of at least one of the UK’s most famous curvaceous women, Nigella Lawson, who graduated from Oxford.

But experts are not convinced by the findings.

“On the fatty deposits being related to intelligence front, it’s very hard to detangle that from other factors, such as social class, for instance, or diet,” said Martin Tovee of Newcastle University.

“And much as we logically like the idea that men are interested in the waist to hip ratio, it actually features relatively low down the list of feature males look for in a potential partner.”

Muahahaha…

Isn’t she hot?

Oh, as usual… here’s a video!!

Wait for the part where she says:

“Don’t panic! I’m not gonna have them all for myself!!”

muahahahah… she’s witty too!!

Now that I have to press a 3 digit number to change channel with an unresponsive keypad.

Urghhh….

and the shows are repeated since 3 years ago.

OMFG…

yet I lie listlessly on the sofa staring at the screen spewing out technicolour magic.

I’m such a sucker.

On another note, here’s a video. Cuz I’m damn free.

It’s Stephanie Sun with 逆光.

Again, I would really love to translate the title, but I don’t think it would be wise to do that.

But if you really need to know, with my crappy Mandarin and setengah masak England,  逆 means “against flow” and 光 means “light”. Simple eh? But “Against light” is, really, unromantic at all. That’s why I would rather leave it in Chinese, for fear of sounding stupid.

Nanka… ureshii desu yo ne…

with one comment

It’s the end of another semester. Another bloody semester.

This was quite an uneventful semester, but then again most of my time here, it has been uneventful anyway.

They, whoever ‘they’ are, say that university life are the best years in your life. But I must say…

O’REALLY??!

I remember my primary school days and I prefer how it was then. Worries, were of the “oh crap, I won’t make it for Power Rangers at five” kind. Meals were always on the table when it’s supposed to be. 50 sens was enough to buy me junk food at the canteen, and quite alot of that too. Friends were not of the opportunist kind nor were there much trouble with racism and shit. But most of all, I liked myself better then.

It’s just like that, isn’t it?

For fear of sounding like an ingrate, I must also say that I’m glad that I have what I have today. A sound education, a loving family, a sane mind and everything else. Even the fat hanging around my ass. I’m quite free to do anything that I wish, with certain well-established restrictions, however. But it’s all good. It’s just the way I could ever wanted it to be.

At least I’m not doing Law or Medicine, biatch.

Muahahahha…..

That’s that.

ciao
