What is this new dawn I hear about?

with 3 comments

The Dollar is less than a hundred yen.

Every other state who has a Sultan is showing their power of appointing the CM, which is rarely seen in our Malaysian ‘tidak apa’ culture.

Fuel prices won’t go up just yet, and so are the other stuff.

Everybody who knows how to access internet and understands a language has a blog.

and, most of all,

My blog is two years old already!!

This marks the 3rd… or was it 4th year of me blogging. The previous blog I had I dunno pergi mana di…

Never mind. I hope I can keep this blog. =)

Happy-fricking-Birthday, bloody blog!!

Because a post is not a post until I swear in it.

can’t wait to go home and kick off the shoes and bloody SLEEP.

my humble blog is going to be 2 yrs old in 4 days’ time.

I thank you for viewing my blog intermittently and sorry for those dry days, my 2 dear readers.

Did it occur to you that I have like 6 categories for my posts but most of the time, the posts are listed under “all things unimportant”?

I dunno about you, but it looks bad on me.

Lite.fm has good playlists at ungodly hours. I wonder why….

in 3 days, many things can change…

… there are the good changes

Penang CM announces waivers, new policies

….and the not so pretty changes

Reality bites in PAS-led Kedah

So, I think we went overboard with the punishment votes.

Many say that “PAS isn’t so stupid to make all these drastic changes, then they’ll lose votes and all next time, how?”

But I think Terengganu got it bad the last time they took over.

On the bright side, DAP gets 7 seats in exchange for letting that guy become MB. I guess it’s all right then.

I still want to jog with my shorts on. You know how fucking annoying it is to jog around in long pants or not?

Among many other things

My home state, Perak is going to be led by a PAS candidate.

Everything that can be possibly said is spoken by this dude. It’s really fucking ridiculous if you think about it. DAP won more seats there than those puny PKR and PAS put together. Why must he be elected just because he’s Malay. Maybe that’s not the reason, maybe just maybe, he IS very capable and all but for the others, who are just as capable to have won in their area, isn’t it unfair? Just because he’s Malay is it? I thought they agreed it’s not gonna be racial? I bet the other hopeful candidates are fuming.

Oh, and the Chinese uncles sitting in kopitiams will not go down quietly either. Mark my words.

This is so sucky. They made a wrong move just within hours of winning something so big.

Damn.

I hope that Nizar-something is damn good and not just a wanker, otherwise he should be pissing in his pants with all this pressure mounting on him.

We is bloody doomed

with 2 comments

So far, the most comprehensive article read, is from Kyodo news. At about 2  pm local time.

Among the points most worrying,

“the loss of Penang is particularly stinging for Abdullah as it is his home state, home to major international companies such as Intel Corp. and Sony Corp. and one state that nobody, before Saturday’s vote, predicted would go to the opposition.”

and,

“But many analysts had deemed that task highly unlikely given that the opposition is financially weak and ideologically divided while the 14-party National Front has cash, a docile media and the entire government machinery backing it.”

and,

“But as of early Sunday, the opposition has upped its seats from 19 won in the 2004 election, to 82 and the BN had only 137. The results for the three remaining seats will only be known later as voting was delayed because the ballot papers to some of the remote polling stations failed to be delivered due to an accident and bad weather. “

and,

”I am very stunned. This is so unexpected because the BN has promised so much money and has launched so many (economic) corridors. God’s power is great. It is a tsunami. The people are disgusted with (Abdullah’s United Malays National Organization) UMNO. They have insulted the people, they have insulted democracy,” he told reporters. (Nik Aziz,PAS’ leader)

and,

“But the strong show by the opposition could spell serious trouble for Abdullah.
He may even be forced to step down in mid-term, according to Yeoh.”

and lastly,

“The opposition’s strong showing as expected, has forced a comparison to that of 1969 and with it, the memory of the bloodied racial riots that followed in the aftermath of the poll.
Police have already warned against any provocative victory parade and threatened arrest of anyone found spreading rumors of a riot. “

From what I see,

The opposition has no money. Thus, they would have to make more money, so there would be more corruption in time to come. Because we humans, are fundamentally driven by greed. Don’t tell me I am wrong and that these opposition underdogs will still remain as poor as they are now. Because it IS bound to happen.

Penang might change for the better, that I must admit. For years, it had been stagnant under Gerakan rule.

I just hate it when anybody says “it’s God’s will” or some shit like that. Personally I think God doesn’t give a fuck about who runs our puny little country. Nik Aziz should just shut up and be modest about it if he was such godly man.

I don’t care if Pak Lah goes down. From what I see, he’s not charismatic enough. However, don’t suggest Najib just because he’s the son of a past PM or because he’s the seond-in-line. I hate his indifferent face and he falls under the list of “uttered something stupid one-too-many times”.

I don’t think there would be riots because this time, it’s not racial anymore. It’s just that the people are sick and tired off being lied too and treated like dirt.

There. 2008 is a shocking year indeed. It even started with a bang, courtesy of Dr. Chua Soi Lek. But I’m worried that things will be messy for a while. Just have to wait and see, I guess.

Second rate

without comments

It’s no secret that the non-bumiputras are second class citizens here.

It will come a day when we will become a scarcity here and the odds against us will be bigger than what it is now, what with the 60-something percent of bumi majority and growing.

Balik Cina might sound pretty good to me when I finally sit, staring at the gunky roadside, burnt out from a dead end job trying to pay my bills and taxes with my meager salary.

How can we possibly change the mindset of the old and ’set’?

How do you want the country to advance when I see my fellow university-supposedly-educated students spit and littering freely?

How can we achieve equality when there’s obviously no such thing as equality?

How can we say that our judiciary, police force and ministers are corrupted when we, when desperate, hand the bribe money over without a second thought?

“Please do not suggest that we should hold an awareness campaign anymore”, says my dear lecturer who lamented that, that seems to be the only solution we students can come up with when given a problem.

I’ve realized recently, that not everybody is as educated, or rather, intellectually-sophisticated OR mature as desired.

Also, I’m beginning to doubt that the problems of our country will ever solve themselves. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but, maybe, just maybe, if everyone of us can be true to ourselves, it will certainly be a better place.

That, and we should start culling idiots.

Aaahhh, feels great to snap back to my usual cynical, thinks-highly-of herself form.
