I’m so bored now, I was even considering driving to subang to pass some documents to my brother. I hate being alone so much that I had breakfast in oldtown kopitiam and hung out just reading the daily. Up till now, I still don’t know why I’m back in uni, this godforsaken place that I so gladly left just one month ago. There’s alot of things to think about. Damn.

Discard and repeat.

You know, the buns I made yesterday were dense and kinda yeasty. Smells like moonshine. Well moonshine buns aren’t edible, so i put myself to work and made a second batch.

This time around, I reduced the yeast content and halved the amount of eggs needed.

And the result is a softer and fluffier bun =D

Quite satisfied, but still smells abit yeasty. So I guess I have to reduce the yeast again next time.

Finally, success!!

Oh btw, the blog god has spoken! Kennysia mentioned this song in his blog and it IS awesome!

Productivity Power Up!!

with 6 comments

Hari ini amat bersejarah. Saya amatlah produktif.

Saya bangun pagi!! Betul-betul pagi!!

Lepas itu, saya pun lepaklah sampai lunch time.

*Bangga*

Setelah makan malam, saya sekali lagi memulakan projek membuat roti saya, Part II.

with 6 comments

Mari kita tengok gambar-gambar.

Top scorers discover again PSD scholarships are not guaranteed

SEREMBAN: A number of SPM top scorers have discovered yet again that a string of A’s are no guarantee to a scholarship from the Public Service Department.

When Mo Ye Voon scored 10 1A’s and a 2A, she thought she was on the way to becoming a doctor.

However, Mo, a student of SM KGV who recently completed her national service training in Malacca, was disappointed that she was not selected by the PSD as a scholarship recipient.

“I was not even considered for a medical course at any of the local universities,” said Mo, whose father’s income as a factory supervisor would not be enough for her to realise her dream.

She hoped the PSD would reconsider her application as she had no one else to turn to.

At the Rasah MP Loke Siew Fook’s service centre near here, Mo’s mother, Teo Ai Woo said her daughter was also active in co-curricular activities and had represented the district in badminton.

“She has been crying every night since learning that she did not get the scholarship,” said the housewife.

Loke said he would meet Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz to appeal Mo’s case.

He said other students in a similar predicament should contact him at 016-668 6165.

In SUNGAI PETANI, SMK Ibrahim student Chok Chun Ynh is also heartbroken that his application for a scholarship to study abroad has been rejected.

Instead, Chok who is among the six students who obtained 14 1A’s in the country, was offered a place at a local public university,

Chok’s mother Tan Lee Mei said her son who aspired to study medicine, had received several overseas and local awards after taking part in various competitions and quizzes.

Chok’s school mate Lee San Xiu, 17, who obtained 13 1A’s had also been given a scholarship to study locally although he applied for one to study overseas.

Lee said both he and Chok had represented the school in co-curricular activities at state and national levels.

The PSD, he said, had informed them that there were too many excellent candidates but places were limited.

Two of their school mates Paul Khaw Chu Sern, 17, and Chuah Chian Yeong, 17, who both obtained 12 1A’s, failed to get any PSD scholarships.

Lee’s father Wai Heng, a civil servant, said an analysis showed that the students were among the top 250 SPM scorers in the country and who had fulfilled the criteria for selection to study overseas.

“Why then are their applications rejected?” he asked.

According to a nationwide analysis of last year’s SPM results, three students scored 16 1A’s, two scored 15 1A’s, six 14 1A’s, 41 of them scored 13 1A’s while 229 scored 12 1A’s.

According to a report, the department had interviewed 8,363 out of the 15,084 candidates who had applied for scholarships under the foreign degree programme between March 31 and April 3.

In view of the limited places abroad, especially in critical subjects, the PSD also offered 2,000 scholarships to outstanding students to pursue studies in local universities.

Unsuccessful candidates have until May 18 to appeal online.

*Ahem* Ah… Classic!

“Why then are their applications rejected?” he asked.

Seriously, who you kidding? You still don’t know the answer? Still trying to deny some reality that always hits you right-smack-indaface? Or are you trying to make ME think?

Because youz Chinese. Simple as that.

It’s obvious this news article is trying to stir up something among the Chinese.

‘Oh, woe is me, I must study medic, must be loktor. My family poor, nowhere to turn, them government unfair to us…blablabla…’

Really, it is a NEED to study medic meh? Engineering no good? Business? Fishery and Forestry? Ahaks…

Because I’m sure PSD offered you something else and you turn your damn tinggi nose away and think that medic(overseas, nonetheless) is destined for you. You are destined to cut people up and make them all better, armed with a gwai-lo accent. Nothing less.

But I’m sure you worked your ass off, memorizing the jugular arteries and shit like that, nilai-nilai moral to the last comma, sejarah to the ‘anisme merupakan kepercayaan blablabla… and ianya syirik! (just to score in ur essay, or maybe you don’t), big big words for BM literature—all that, with one thing in mind, which is to secure a medic spot with the PSD scholarship. Sort of like collecting Dragon Balls eh? Go to the ends of the earth just to be granted ONE wish (although that short and fat god made it into three wishes later). Oh, well.

So, you deserve to be treated properly, to be granted free tertiary education. You were. Just not the one you wanted.

SUCK IT UP!

That stupid delusion went *poof* when I saw people with lower grades than mine get better opportunities. Medic, UTP… shit like that. But I do not feel resentment. It’s just that way. I made peace with myself knowing that I didn’t shortchange some deserving kid to get my education. Anyway, I’m doing what I like now and am enjoying the stress-free environment that I’m in. Oh, you didn’t know? Medic students have a world of expectations on their shoulders, graduate with low pay and have to work their asses of for at least 5 years. Plus, I could get my ‘Dr’ title if I decide to be a nerd for 2 more years. Eat that!

But let’s get real, a lot of deserving Malay kids could be rejected also. It might be that they suck at English(or Add Maths, whatever… or they got an A2) or they don’t have thick enough cables, geddit? Pull strings, geddit? Doomed to a life in a kampung, doing menial work, not knowing that there is such thing as PTPTN and other student loans.

Oh, btw, if you really wanted medic, just TAKE A LOAN!

Although you’ll pay like 5 digit sums annually next time, it might be worth a try to see if you REALLY wanted it that badly.

Cos, don’t you be wasting our people’s tax money(I’m not working yet, can’t say much about my money) sending you to study while we are still stuck with chapalang toilets and third-world internet speeds. You gonna forfeit the scholarship and stay on, earning big bucks, in Amalika anyway. You think I dunno what you thinking? I would do exactly that too, if I had the chance. Stupidinternet12kbps-kissmyassshithead…

Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD! DAMN!

Every.Single.Year.They.Must.Make.These.Sort.of.Noise.

Seriously, what’s the big fuss about being a doctor? I self-medicate with the help of the in’ernet anyways, albeit s-l-o-w-l-y. 12kbps… are you fucking kidding me?

They are Da Bomb!

DSCN1774

But at RM 6 per pack of measly few pieces, half of its original glory that I grew up chomping on, I’d only take it as a treat. Once in a while, if we happen to pass by Gunung Rapat, we’ll get a pack. Fresh ones are always better than those from KL.

mmm… maybe I should take more pictures of food and post it up here huh? That’ll keep me occupied for a bit =D

Trials and tribulations.

Climbed Bukit Engku Busu yesterday. Not bad, considering we can reach our usual spot that oversees the Naval Dockyard in less than 45 minutes. That, after like 2 or 3 years of hiatus from hill climbing and steeper treks dues to erosions.

I was exhausted. But it’s all good, the much needed exercise is a break of my usual routine of melting in front of the tv.

The car was finally touched-up, full body spray-painting that took two weeks to complete. Am liking it and quite reasonable too, at RM 1500. Definitely can’t get that price in KL. =D
