Not Fun Anymore

For once in my life, I took a proactive step. I found a job in a computer shop and had just finished my shift about and hour ago.

As I walked to the eatery to pack my dinner and along the way to get my car, my mind spun around one single thought.

Why in God’s name did I take up this job??

If I wanted money, I just had to open my mouth and ask. If I wanted some challenge, I could take up boxing classes. If I wanted intellectual stimulation, I would be better off reading my much neglected novel collection. If I needed some contact with human life, I could well join a student society that I have avoided(like a plague) for 5 years.

My father compared my pay to a toilet cleaner’s and concluded that the latter is more well off than me. It wasn’t snide at all, it’s just him being his totally logical self. I would know, because the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Anyway, I disagreed. But I have no idea at all if those nice ladies cleaning The Gardens’ (Mid Valley) loos are indeed earning less than me.

In fact, I dunno. It’s not about the Camera Fund, or the PS3 Fund.

I guess I just want to have a taste of what it’s like to earn my keep. Like my friends who have all started work.

Work had been non-eventful. Thank god I didn’t screw up.

Here’s to my newfound sense of achievement.
