Told to ‘balik China’, racism victim demands respect

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — A victim of race abuse, allegedly told to “return to China” by a police officer, today said she had lodged a report against the offender to demand her due respect as a citizen of Malaysia.

“I lodged the report because I want him to respect us, citizens, especially him being an inspector,” said 51-year-old Loh See Mooi today.

On August 24, Loh was allegedly insulted by a police inspector while attempting to lodge a report after having fallen victim to snatch theft.

The inspector was alleged to have uttered “Jika tak tahu cakap Bahasa Melayu, balik China” (If you cannot speak Bahasa Malaysia, go back to China) to Loh, after she had addressed him in English. The inspector had earlier refused to speak with Loh’s daughter, who had accompanied her to the police station then.

“When he said ‘jika tak tahu cakap Bahasa Melayu, balik China’, I simply cannot accept it,” Loh said today

Loh told reporters today outside the Kepong Police Station that such treatment towards her as a Malaysian citizen was unacceptable.

She was at the police station to give an additional statement on her report, here this morning.

Loh today explained that she had waited about a week before lodging the report because she did not know who to turn to, before going to Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng for his assistance.

After relating her ordeal today, Loh advised the police force to have translators on hand to help people like her who were not fluent in the national language.

“I hope after this incident, that such things won’t happen anymore,” she said.

You know… for every 1 racist idiot, there are 9 more ppl who really feel sorry for them. It just shows how shallow they are and in fact, they are just poor victims of inferiority complex. Like, they wanna feel good by belittling others’ sort of things.

I went shopping today and almost passed out due to stomach ache, and you know what? The guards helped me out by watching my stuff as I spent a gruelling 30 minutes in the washroom wondering if it’s food poisoning, because nothing came out and my stomach hurt like hell(ahahha tmi). The cashier aunty help me buy a bottle of water as I waited at the bench trying not to pass out and kept an eye on me. This just shows how lovely and caring the bunch of people we have in Malaysia.

But hor, the officer… is typical of the police force la… that’s all I can say.

They are the front of the whole police force and yet they cannot just show a little empathy towards the victims who came forward to lodge a report. It doesn’t matter if it’s feigned or not, the victims had been through a tough time so is it that hard to show a little concern? Yes, I know it’s your job and you face this every.single.day… but it will definitely suck for you, if the roles are reversed!

I’m sure this holds true… well, for the better part of my 24 yrs on this place, it sure did:

Pathologist stays cool as DPP grills her

SHAH ALAM: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy public prosecutor Datuk Abdul Razak Musa yesterday attacked the credibility of Dr Pornthip Rojanasunan.

He alleged that the university at which Dr Pornthip had graduated was not recognised in Malaysia. (Dr Pornthip was a graduate from University Mahidol.)

He also accused the Thai forensic pathologist of having a wild imagination to make up her findings and for attacking the integrity of the MACC despite her lack of background knowledge of Teoh Beng Hock’s case, unlike the British expert witness hired by the MACC, Dr Peter Vanezis.

But Dr Pornthip, looking flamboyant with her hair tinted in autumn shades, took it all in her stride.

Clad in a brown blouse and long skirt, adorned heavily with jewellery, she had only this to say:
"I do not know if my university is recognised here. But I know that it is one of the top five universities in Asia. You should not look down on Asians," she said.

"I work for the rights of the dead and not the Selangor government."
She said although it was important to be told the background of the case, sometimes it helps not to know too much so that she would not take sides when examining the body.
Razak: "You do not have enough information, yet you come here to say (previously) that Teoh’s case was 80 per cent homicide. And that was splashed across the newspapers the next day."

Dr Pornthip: "I think you need to look back at your notes. (Dr Pornthip had previously said she came to her earlier conclusion based on the first post-mortem report and photographs as she did not have the opportunity to examine the body.)"

Razak: "I have spent three days reading the notes."
Dr Pornthip: "I think you need more than three days then. Are you really a lawyer?"
Razak: "I have been a lawyer for 24 years."
Dr Pornthip: "But not in forensic science."

Her answer drew laughter from the courtroom which was packed with reporters, several DAP leaders and the public.

IT’S A SHAM

It’s called ‘seng tung kek sai’. It means make noise to the east and hit from the west.

It means we are gonna be bluffed and treated like 3 yr olds as long as najib is still in control.

I was just sitting there watching Bones, reruns, and MTV.

And then I was aware of my heartbeat for a moment.

And then I felt tired.

If I have to consciously make a decision at that moment, to just drop everything and go for a holiday or stick it out for a few more months and THEN go for a holiday, I’d be torn.

Because my heart will tell me to just go for a holiday.

And my brain would definitely tellcommand that I finish my work first.

Fuck this shit. I’m gonna go back to uni, work my ass off for a few months and go for a well-deserved holiday.

And if there’s another sohai robber that breaks in, I might just fucking kill him because I am THAT furious.

But I realized that the day that I stop questioning, criticising and actually listen and take in bullshits, is the day I stop living.

I’m egoistic like that.

And I fear that day will come and I wouldn’t know what to do.
